摘要: Objective To explore the role of relationship between sport and social capital in negotiating improved outcomes for homeless individuals with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Method A qualitative analysis semi-structured interviews 27 participants Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup (eight from Scotland 19 Australia). Interview questions focussed on participants’ interest participation sport; factors influencing participation; any changes perceived by as a result program order to identify pre post event, current experiences exclusion. Conclusion Findings suggest that initially provided bonding within limited network, yet over time other types (bridging linking) were exhibited participants, enabled access ancillary services led reductions or cessation both symptoms illness. Implications Sport can provide an effective vehicle accrual capital, which may positively impact patterns marginalised at-risk communities.
