摘要: MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small non-coding RNAs that act post-transcriptionally to regulate gene expression levels. Some studies have indicated microRNAs may low homoplasy, and as a consequence the phylogenetic distribution of microRNA families has been used study animal evolutionary relationships. Limited levels lineage sampling, however, distort such analyses. Lophotrochozoa is an under-sampled taxon includes molluscs, annelids nemerteans, among other phyla. Here, we present two novel draft genomes, those limpet Patella vulgata polychaete Spirobranchus (Pomatoceros) lamarcki. Surveying these genomes for known identifies numerous potential orthologues, including number considered be confined lineages. RT-PCR demonstrates some (miR-1285, miR-1287, miR-1957, miR-1983 miR-3533), previously thought found only in vertebrates, expressed. This provides genomic resources lophotrochozoans reveals patterns evolution could hidden by more restricted sampling.
