Visible and Infrared Photometry of Six Centaurs

摘要: Abstract We present infrared ( JHK ) and visible VRI observations of the Centaurs 2060 Chiron, 5145 Pholus, 7066 Nessus, 1995 DW 2 , GO, 1997 CU 26 . These are combined whenever possible to derive relative reflectance spectra between 0.55 2.2 μm. The extreme color Pholus found in 1992 is confirmed, as redness Nessus. refine rotation period lightcurve GO resolve ambiguous determinations its V–R color. find that has V–JHK colors very similar GO. Our data imply changes visible–IR Chiron with level cometary activity and, aware difficulties combining nonsimultaneous data, we comment on likely reality these. a wide range reflectances within Centaur population no obvious correlations heliocentric distance.
