Rapid determination of yeast viability

摘要: A modified simple staining method using Methylene blue to distinguish between live and dead cells has been developed. (0.025%, w/v) in full strength Ringer solution with 1% glucose (w/v) added is used as the standard solution. Satisfactory reproducible results can be obtained through microscopic examination this method. The ratio of viable nonviable constant for at least two days if proper environmental conditions are provided. This was demonstrate effects various factors that influence yeast viability.
