Targeting inflammation to reduce cardiovascular disease risk: a realistic clinical prospect?

摘要: Data from basic science experiments is overwhelmingly supportive of the causal role immune-inflammatory response(s) at core atherosclerosis, and therefore theoretical potential to manipulate inflammatory response prevent cardiovascular events. However, extrapolation humans requires care we still lack definitive evidence show that interfering in processes may safely lessen clinical atherosclerosis. In this review, discuss key therapeutic targets treatment vascular inflammation, placing research a wider perspective, as well identifying outstanding questions.
