摘要: This study investigated the effects of different characteristics early child-care in England on development cognition, language, and task-related attention behaviour (orientation/engagement emotion regulation during Bayley assessment) at 18 months. Data were drawn from a prospective longitudinal 1,201 infants. As found previous studies, socio-demographic maternal caregiving (especially ‘opportunities for stimulation’) significant predictors all child outcomes. There also quantity individual group care, quality non-maternal care. Controlling demographics caregiving, more hours care (nurseries) related to higher cognitive scores, while (e.g., grandparents, nannies etc.) lower orientation/engagement scores. Non-maternal was observed subsample 345 children, after controlling covariates as well stability be predictive ability better orientation/engagement. Although effect sizes small magnitude, line with other similar such modest large English sample are important when viewed light widespread use infancy childhood.
