摘要: The discovery of extrasolar planets is one the major scientific advances last two decades. Hundreds have now been detected and astronomers are beginning to characterize their composition physical characteristics. To do this requires a huge quantity spectroscopic data most which not available from laboratory studies. ExoMol project will offer comprehensive solution problem by providing on all molecular transitions importance in atmospheres exoplanets. These be widely applicable other problems used for studies cool stars, brown dwarfs circumstellar environments. This paper lays out foundations reviews previous work area. A mixture first principles empirically tuned quantum mechanical methods compute very large rotation–vibration rotation–vibration– electronic line lists. Methodologies developed treating larger molecules such as methane nitric acid. rely these developments use state-of-the-art
