摘要: In this study, the activity concentrations of natural radionuclides in soil and beach sediment samples collected from 15 randomly but uniformly distributed locations coastal area Akwa Ibom (southern Nigeria) were measured using hyper pure germanium (HPGe) detector. The 238U, 232Th 40K varied 9 to 44 Bq/kg, 3 72 Bq/kg 35 250 respectively. These results are below 1000, 1000 4000 upper limits safety for Except show lower standard deviations than their mean values, which indicate that soils sediments have high degree uniformity. spatial distribution radionuclide is nearly uniform except at where carbonaceous materials clay exist. Mean value Th/U ratio across was ≤ 7, typical reducing condition depositional environment, thus suggesting enrichment clays. Additionally, concentration observed be slightly higher anthropic activities prevalent. Apart excess lifetime cancer risk (average 0.80 × 10−3), average other radiological parameters: radium equivalent (83 Bq/kg), absorbed dose rate (39 nGy/h), indoor annual effective (0.18 mSv/year), outdoor (0.05 mSv/y) gonadal (259 μSv/y), permissible limits. Hence, safe suitable all purposes.
