摘要: Road runoff is understood to be a significant stressor in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, yet the effects of this are poorly at large spatial scales. We developed an efficient method for estimating impact road on lands waters over geographic areas then applied our methodology 2.4 million ha Adirondack Park New York State. used TauDEM hydrologic modeling series ESRI GIS processes delineate surface flow downslope paved roads, illustrating potential movement pollutants originating from roads through USGS 10 m DEM topography. estimated land water areas, number bodies, total stream length potentially impacted by roads. found that as much 11 % area, 77 % 1/3 52 % may runoff. The high degree association between region strongly suggests environmental impacts should evaluated along with other regional stressors currently being studied. Being able estimate important designing monitoring programs can explicitly monitor while also providing opportunities understand interaction multiple stressors.
