摘要: Heterogeneous catalysts are of primary importance for many industrial processes. Catalysts frequently obtained by including small amounts active species on a porous carrier having very high specific surface. For design and optimization purposes, electron probe micro analysis (EPMA) is routinely used in our laboratory. With EPMA, the sample irradiated monoenergetic keV beam. X-ray Bremsstrahlung characteristic photons then selected either an energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) or wavelength (WDS). The line intensity (of relaxation inner-shell ionisation photons) unknown measured as well this same emerging from standard known composition. Correction procedures applied to achieve quantification elements. Yet when traditional EPMA correction processed alumina samples, unrealistically low total composition observed. samples (porosity ≈ 68%, surface 250m2/g, pore size 10 nm) emit about 10% less Al Kα than massive
