摘要: Abstract Chromium doped phosphate glass was melted adopting microwave (MW) heating and properties were compared with conventional glass. Standard methods of characterization X-ray diffraction (XRD), density, UV–Vis-NIR absorption spectroscopy, Refractive indices (RI), Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) X-Ray Photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) performed to evaluate the glasses. XRD analysis confirmed amorphous nature. Enhanced peaks in UV–Vis spectra at wavelengths 298, 456, 660 685 nm suggest higher Cr3+ concentration MW prepared Alteration peak intensities shift binding energy XPS confirm presence Cr(III) different coordination orientation Spectrophotometric method developing colour complex Cr[VI] 1,5-diphenyl carbazide indicates absence Presence IR bands due bonds depicts similar structure both Difference RI, transition temperature (Tg) are also observed Maximum instantaneous electrical power 1.4 kW cavity, whereas 4 kW recorded resistive furnace. Reflected remains within 15% forward power. Total melting time ~ 2 h unlike 6–7 h heating.
