摘要: The reactions of some structures to different external stimuli can be used for therapeutic purposes. In particular, in photodynamic therapy (PDT), a light-sensitive compound or structure, commonly named photosensitizer (PS), is able produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) after being irradiated with light the presence oxygen. Such ROS are effective destroying cells and as agents treat skin eye diseases, well certain types cancer. This review will summarise current state-of-the-art PDT, special focus on available photosensitizers, their chemistry, incorporation into nanostructures, targeting strategies.
