摘要: The theory for the rotational excitation of symmetric-top molecular ions by electron impact is formulated within Coulomb-Born approximation. Analytical expressions are derived transitions induced dipole and quadrupole interactions. cross sections large finite at threshold decrease with increasing electron-impact energy. validity present description lowenergy collisions examined. Numerical calculations reported hydronium H, O+ ion.
