摘要: Rationale and Objectives Most fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-positron emission tomography with computed (PET/CT) studies are performed on cancer patients. These patients at increased risk of pulmonary embolism (PE). In this retrospective review, we determined the rate PE, prevalence associated FDG-PET findings intravenous (IV) contrast-enhanced PET/CT. Materials Methods We identified all PET/CT our institution a reported finding PE between January 2005 October 2012. The medical record was reviewed for symptoms, which were after diagnosis whether received treatment. determined. Results A total 65 cases (of 182,72 examinations) 59 previously unknown. This gives an incidental (IPE) 0.32%. Of where sufficient clinical information available, 34 36 (94%) treated either therapeutic anticoagulation or inferior vena cava filter, 30 (83%) asymptomatic in retrospect. IPE, found nine (15.2%) focal artery hypermetabolism, three (5.1%) hypermetabolic infarction, one isolated right ventricular FDG uptake (1.7%). One case chronic demonstrated hypometabolic filling defect PET. Conclusions IPE 0.32% scans. Focal hypermetabolism hypometabolism, infarction “rim sign” uncommonly PE. could raise possibility non-IV studies.
