摘要: Abstract Pat Jasan emerged as a largescale popular social movement in the Kachin region of northern Myanmar 2014, with objective eradicating illicit drug production and consumption from region. It has since been heavily criticized for its methods opposition to harm reduction initiatives. The purpose this paper is understand better cultural psychological response worsening issues that underpin rise mass movement. contextualises two ways which frames local drugs crisis: first, sense existential threat posed by related harms; second, belief ‘all’ households are negatively impacted these harms. We outline underpinning ideological beliefs upon rest. discuss how even though non-Christian practices have largely disappeared, they remain layered within deep culture attitudes towards use best deal community-level harms believed be created such behaviours. Critically, also draws attention unrecognized involvement women mobilizing forces leveraged feeling at critical moment region's political history.
