Leaf stripe form of esca induces alteration of photosynthesis and defence reactions in presymptomatic leaves

摘要: Esca is a destructive disease in grapevines (Vitis vinifera L.) caused by at least three fungi and characterised two different external symptoms, the apoplectic leaf stripe form. This latter form can be discerned as soon symptoms become visible, but preceding discrete signs during incubation are poorly or not understood. To further understand development of form, period following appearance was investigated studying physiological molecular markers associated with photosynthetic mechanisms stress response. No perturbation any targeted metabolism observed asymptomatic leaves canes from vines showing esca. Conversely, drastic alterations photosynthesis functions were registered presymptomatic leaves, revealed decrease gas exchange chlorophyll fluorescence, repression photosynthesis-related genes.
