摘要: The care of children with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is highly specialized and often poorly understood by nonpediatric providers facility/institution administrators. As such, this position paper has been created to offer provider, facility, institutional guidance regarding the components necessary for receiving dialysis. Key differences between adult pediatric dialysis units are highlighted. Responsibilities expectations members interdisciplinary team outlined as they pertain specifically patients. Physical staffing requirements facility reviewed, again focusing on unique needs challenges faced team. Among these, vascular access options proper planning ESRD underscored. Pediatric quality-of-life metrics differ significantly from quality variables, tools assessment must be used.
