Pain Intensity and Perceived Social Support among Patients with Pancreatic Tumors

摘要: Abstract Purpose: Patients with pancreatic malignancy suffer from intractable and persistent pain that can only be effectively treated by the use of opioids. Such significantly impacts quality life becomes stigma disease dying. The aim study was to evaluate psychosocial correlates among cancer patients, a special emphasis on social support. Methods: One hundred thirty one patients (52 women 79 men) diagnosed participated in study. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) used assess current intensity. Social support assessed subscale “Family living” FACT–G Representation PRISM. Results: There strong correlation between intensity measured FACT-G opioid-using group (measured VAS r=0.47, p<0.05) PRISM (r=0.81, p<0.05). In opioid-naive group, there no relationship perceived level. women, strongly correlated support: VAS/FACT r=-0.64, VAS/PRISM r=-0.62 (both p<0.05). Conclusions: suffering opioids, higher level is connected positive impact illness relations support. contrary, female lower associated pain. an important contributor perception receiving opioids patients.
