摘要: Background Hepcidin is a peptide hormone that plays key role in regulating iron absorption from the small intestine and body distribution. Alterations hepcidin concentrations have been associated with chronic inflammatory conditions or inherited diseases of metabolism. The aim our study was to evaluate healthy children order define normal reference range serum concentrations. universal use reliable commercial ELISA kit gives ability compare results those previous studies. Methods We evaluated 180 (88 boys, mean age: 67.55 ± 39.26 months, median: 60, range: 24–156 months) aged 2–12 years, using an immunoassay kit. Results Hepcidin median values were 46.94 ng/ml for boys 46.79 girls. No significant differences observed between There seem be significantly higher older (10–12 years old). This trend constant statistically after gender age group stratification. Although this more prominent girls, it not significant. Conclusions This aims at setting up pediatric population by well-established laboratory kit. difference could attributed different growth rates. Additionally, adults reflect alterations metabolism two groups.
