Military frameworks: technological know-how and the legitimization of warfare

摘要: It is the elusive target of policymakers, ethicists and military strategists: a ‘just war’. Since advent precision-guided munitions in mid-1970s, commentators claimed that surgical-strike technology would advance cause jus bello, ending longstanding tension between effective engagement morality. Today, many policymakers accept ethical dilemmas arise ‘fog war’ can be negotiated by technical precision weaponry. This is, at best, only partially accurate.
