摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the procedures for preparation of carotenoid analogs, administration doses, blood sampling, high-performance liquid chromatography analysis serum samples, and characterization metabolites. Studies absorption metabolism carotenoids have been stimulated by claims their anticarcinogenic properties independent provitamin A activity. Many epidemiological studies indicated a possible association between increased dietary consumption foods rich in lower cancer risk. Carotenoids shown to potent antioxidant activities, stimulate immune response protect cells animals from cancerous events. However, little is known about humans, other than cleavage β -carotene retinal gut, liver, some tissues. on humans are complicated presence slow clearance endogenous human serum.
