On Applicability of Some Indirect Tests for Estimation of Tensile Strength of Anisotropic Rocks

摘要: The tensile strength of rocks plays a noteworthy role in their failure mechanism, and its determination can be beneficial optimizing the design rock structures. Schistose due to inherent anisotropy different foliation directions show diverse at each direction. purpose this work was compare assess phyllite, which obtained direct indirect tests directions. To end, several phyllite specimens with angles (0o, 30o, 45o, 60o, 90o) related loading axis (β) were prepared. Finally, test, diametrical axial point load tests, Brazilian Schmidt hammer test conducted on 188 samples. results experimental revealed that maximum minimum strengths testing tension directly 0o 90o. Also it observed overestimated strength. Furthermore, an exponential correlation introduced between
