摘要: Despite the worldwide occurrence of Sanderlings Calidris alba on popular beaches, strikingly little is known about their biology compared to other common waders. Here we review limited available knowledge that use African–Eurasian flyways. The basis for this was a workshop Sanderlings, held during International Wader Study Group conference in Jastrzebia Gora, Poland 2008. We focus biogeography, trends, numbers, diet, migration patterns and reproduction. Gaps our are identified discuss evidence Siberian origin wintering NW Europe, plead more non-estuarine surveys collaboration between colour-ring projects both space time get better understanding population dynamics phenology.
