摘要: Chagas disease (CD), caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, remains a serious public health problem. One of the causes high morbidity and mortality in patients is lack an effective drug therapy. Thus, aim this study was to evaluate efficacy essential oil Syzygium aromaticum alone combination with benznidazole (BZ) mice orally inoculated strain T. cruzi IV obtained from oral CD outbreak occurred Western Brazilian Amazonia. All animals metacyclic trypomastigote forms (AM14 strain, BZ resistant), derived insect Rhodnius robustus, became infected there no difference rate between experimental groups. When compared untreated control (UTC), treatment S. aromaticum (EOSA) promoted reduction 1/5 parameters parasitemia curve, whereas treatments or (BZ + EOSA) 4/5 those parameters, presenting similar profiles curve. The treated BZ + EOSA presented lower patency periods comparison EOSA group, positivity blood cultures when UTC group. results molecular analysis qPCR both cardiac tissue did not show differences cure rates different following ascending order: EOSA = 12.5% (1/8), BZ = 25.0% (2/8) BZ + EOSA = 37.5% (3/8). Although are significant them, these claims that use could be interest for disease.
