摘要: A compact pointing device generally includes a ball, light source, and sensor. The ball an outer layer, reflective inner core, transparent layer disposed between the core. Disposed in is pattern of areas which appear opaque when illuminated by generated source. During operation, source travels through portion before illuminating reflected back from core along path extends layer. As passes 'shadow' cast onto sensor responds to movements shadow (e.g., user manipulates ball) generating output processed provide cursor control output.
