摘要: Fullerenes are a new allotrope of carbon characterized by closed-cage structure consisting an even number three-coordinate atoms devoid hydrogen atoms. This class was originally limited to structures with 12 isolated five-membered rings, the rest being six-membered rings. Although it recognized that existing organic ring nomenclature could be used for these structures, resulting names would extremely unwieldy and inconvient use.
