Operation of a Field Scale Anaerobic Digester on a Swine Farm

摘要: On the Swine Research Farm at University of Illinois, an anaerobic digester with a 199 m3 reactor operates temperature 35° C and average loading rate 1.7 kgVS/m3/day. Average daily biogas production is 114 m3, consisting 64% CH4 35% CO2. Total solids, volatile chemical oxygen demand swine manure can be reduced by 59%, 66%, 73%, respectively, during digestion. The used to fuel 25 kW engine generator produce electricity for emergency circuits on farm.
