摘要: Objective. —To evaluate the association of breast implants with connectivetissue diseases. Design and Participants. —Retrospective cohort study 395 543 female health professionals who completed mailed questionnaires for potential participation in Women's Health Study. A total 10830 women reported 11 805 connective-tissue diseases between 1962 1991. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used analyses. Main Outcome Measure. —Self-reported Results. —Compared did not report implants, relative risk (RR) combined end point any disease among those was 1.24(95% confidence interval, 1.08 to 1.41,P=.0015). With respect individual diseases, finding other (including mixed) statistically significant (P=.017), findings rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's syndrome, dermatomyositis or polymyositis, scleroderma borderline statistical significance (.05 Conclusion. —These self-reported data from are compatible prior reports studies that exclude a large hazard, but do suggest small increased risks implants. The very sample size makes chance an unlikely explanation results, bias due differential overreporting selective by affected remains plausible alternative explanation. major contribution this observational analytic has been following (JAMA. 1996;275:616-621)
