摘要: Abstract In this article, we illustrate the potential of aerodynamic modifications road signs to reduce wind-induced vibrations. Using a real-world sign structure operated by Minnesota Department Transportation, focus on two modification variants, one based simple removal secondary panels and addition drag reducing rear extensions main panel. Our analysis tool is computational fluid dynamics framework finite element method, which validated against experiments with scaled model that were conducted in towing tank wind tunnel St. Anthony Falls Laboratory. We demonstrate computationally constitute an effective way vibration amplitude example for head at average operating speed. The present study can be seen as first step towards establishing use devices structures.
