摘要: Military activity in Afghanistan and Iraq, together with terrorist the UK, has resulted certain UK centers seeing an increase casualties ballistic maxillofacial injuries. In general, it is suggested that military head neck injuries account for 16% of all battlefield injuries,1 whereas this area accounts only 12% body surface area. Reviews from Iraq since 2003 have injury rates may now exceed 20% casualties.2 Recent analysis operative data a Role 3 Hospital shows 19% operations on trauma patients were neck.3 It proportionate due to effectiveness armor targeting by adversaries. However, cases evacuated 4 Birmingham, reveals 61% are explosive devices which non directional, while 8% gunshot wounds.4 A similar pattern been seen many conflicts including Second World War.5
