摘要: Revealing the multiple factors underlying variability observed in Middle Palaeolithic lithic assemblages of southwestern France continues to be great interest, dividing scholars both terms their interpretation and approaches applied. Building sound interpretive models, whether chronology or techno-economy, is, however, often hindered by nature recovery strategies employed during many early excavations this important region. The site Le Moustier (Lower Shelter) has played a fundamental role definition well-known controversial Mousterian 'facies' as well perception chronological patterning. Based on technological taphonomic analysis material recovered from small test-pit it recently been shown that original collections Peyrony before First World War are unrepresentative, clear variations exist were otherwise undetectable. In brief contribution, we present additional data concerning newly discovered layer G, assigned Bordes his MTA type A variant. This further supports previously documented separation lower Levallois-dominated assemblage overlying one with heavy emphasis bifacial shaping (faconnage). Finally, these results discussed broader definitional issues techno-complexes, focussing specific attention tools.
