摘要: Lantana camara, the widely studied species, and L. montevidensis, less species of genus are both used in traditional medicine for same purpose (anti-asthma, anti-ulcer, anti-tumor, etc). However, little is known about toxicity montevidensis there limited information on its chemical constituents. Here, we investigated first time genotoxicity cytotoxicity ethanolic (EtOH) aqueous extracts from leaves human leukocytes, as well their possible interaction with erythrocyte membranes vitro. The antioxidant activities were also biological models. Treatment leukocytes EtOH or (1-480 µg/mL) did not affect DNA damage index, but promoted at higher concentrations (240-480 µg/mL). Both modify osmotic fragility erythrocytes. scavenged DPPH radical prevented Fe2+-induced lipid peroxidation rat's brain liver homogenates, this was likely attributed to Fe (II) chelation. HPLC analysis showed different amounts polyphenolic compounds (isoquercitrin, gallic acid, catechin, ellagic apigenin, kaempferol, caffeic rutin, quercitrin, quercetin, chlorogenic luteolin) that may have contributed these effects. These results supported functional use folk medicine.
