摘要: Most California vineyards are eventually attacked by one or more grapevine trunk diseases (Esca Botryosphaeria-, Eutypa- and Phomopsis diebacks). These fungal pathogens cause chronic infections of the wood, which slow to develop. The symptoms that follow can take years become obvious. Prevention is an efficient approach, but requires adoption before appear. To encourage early preventative practices, economic analyses simulated their benefits in table grape cultivar Crimson Seedless. Adoption delayed pruning pruning-wound protectants was compared a young, healthy vineyard (years 3 5) versus mature, diseased (year 10). A survey raisin growers California’s southern San Joaquin Valley revealed usage perceptions practices. Also, help with mature vineyards, vine surgery (also referred as “trunk renewal”) between 11 15 were examined. Our simulations showed prevention cost-effective, if adopted young vineyards. However, spite acknowledging impact diseases, only 25 30% use half such adopt Further, who also perceive practices cost-effective. Therefore, outreach strategy convince non-adopters must emphasize long-term given inevitable appearance at maturity. Despite high one-time cost surgery, our suggest its cost-effective complement prevention, thus, it should be integrated into management recommendations for yrs.
