摘要: The paper describes a novel method of drilling into hard non-conductive materials by localized microwave energy (US patent 6,114,676). Microwave Drill implementation may utilize conventional 2.45GHz magnetron, to form portable and relatively simple tool. head consists coaxial guide near-field concentrator. latter focuses the radiation small volume under drilled material surface. concentrator itself penetrates hot spot created in fast thermal runaway process. drill has been tested on concrete, silicon, ceramics (in both slab coating forms), rocks, glass, plastic, wood. its experimental implementations, presents theoretical model for operation. applicability industrial processes is discussed.
