摘要: Reports from the 19th century and earlier indicate that adulteration of foods with fillers, coloring agents, preservatives was widespread. Some these adulterants such as copper sulfate boric acid were quite toxic by present-day standards. After many years effort, beginning early 1889, U.S. Congress passed first Pure Food, Drug, Cosmetic Act in 1906 under leadership Dr. Harvey W. Wiley. Under Wiley’s direction, additives to tested for toxicity, use those found be a health hazard banned or restricted. Today, intentional food is well controlled Food Drug Administration. However, since day, it has become recognized variety unintentional may inadvertently contaminate including muscle foods.
