摘要: The locus coeruleus was stimulated in 62 cats order to investigate the effect on cephalic blood flow and vascular resistance. Flow measured by electromagnetic probes applied common carotid artery. Stimulation over a range of frequencies (0.2–200 s−1) produced frequency-dependent fall resistance, greater ipsilateral side. This response not affected either cervical sympathectomy or spinal cord section. blocked bilateral section facial nerve but abolished classical cholinergic, histaminergic adrenergic blocking agents. also resulted pressor through mechanisms which coeruleo-hypothalamic projections were involved. A post-stimulation constriction vasculature followed dilator attributed release catecholamines from adrenal medulla.
