摘要: Abstract Polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene-octadecene (LLDPE) composites containing titanium dioxide nanotubes were synthesized applied to the inhibition of selected bacteria. It was found that polymerization rate polymerizations increased with incorporation octadecene compared bare ethylene, while modified (O–TiO2–Ntbs) catalytic activity showed a slight decrease pure polymer. Regarding physical properties, melting temperature cristallinity PE higher than LLDPE. LLDPE presented lower rigidity thus Young's modulus. On other hand, nanotubes, modulus did not change significantly respect PE. After 2 h contact, PE/O–TiO2–Ntbs composite reduction Escherichia coli 36.7% under no UVA irradiations. In contrast, LLDPE/O–TiO2–Ntbs 63.5%. The photocatalytic (under light) much after 60 min LLDPE/O-TiO2-Ntbs bacterial 99.9%, whereas PE/O-TiO2-Ntbs 42.6% reduction.
