摘要: PERHAPS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNCOMMON, anterior mediastinal neoplasms continue to present diagnostic challenges the surgical pathologist. Such tumors have been subject of many articles and monographs, 1–99 but are still incompletely understood misdiagnosed. In selected cases, a distinction between lesions that may arise in mediastinum is difficult even when they resected completely remain available for detailed study laboratory. Current medical practice has added difficulty further, however, pathologists being asked make increasingly more sophisticated interpretations from ever smaller tissue specimens obtained by needle biopsy. 100–103
