Parental acceptance and children’s psychological adjustment: The moderating effects of interpersonal power and prestige across age

摘要: The differential contribution of maternal and paternal acceptance-rejection to children’s psychological adjustment has been explained by differences in interpersonal power prestige within families; however, there is not yet enough empirical support for this explanation. This study examines the moderating effects on relationship between perceived parental across sex age. sample was composed 913 children ranging age from 9 16 years. Multiple hierarchical regression analyses total showed a significant independent prestige. No were found sample. However, when conducted different groups, acceptance had higher nine ten years old. Interestingly, (not power) also younger participants. Furthermore, late childhood than early adolescence. These results suggest how may explain adjustment.
