摘要: The prevalence and the severity of erectile dysfunction (ED) increase with advancing age; different pathogenetic factors could contribute to age-related ED. We studied organic, relational intrapsychic components ED as a function patients' age in consecutive series 977 patients ED, using specifically designed structured interview SIEDY. A complete physical examination biochemical, hormonal, psychometric penile vascular tests were also performed. Relational seems be more relevant aged over 60 y, while disturbances play major role younger subjects. Organic are most important determinant all groups, but their contribution is older patients. In fact, basal dynamic peak cavernosal velocity at Doppler ultrasound was reduced Among hormonal factors, body mass index-dependent reduction testosterone does not seem crucial pathogenesis No significant correlation observed between level although reporting hypoactive sexual desire showed significantly lower levels when compared rest sample. better understanding relative help design appropriate therapeutic approaches.
