Role of vertical winds on the Rayleigh-Taylor mode instabilities of the night-time equatorial ionosphere

摘要: In view of the recent observations on presence vertical winds in equatorial ionosphere evening and night-time, role Rayleigh-Taylor (R-T) mode instability has been re-examined. The mathematical treatment Chiu Straus, earlier developd for a case horizontal winds, is extended to evaluate causing R-T instability. It shown that (downward) small magnitude have very significant effect growth rate the. F-region. A downward wind l m s−1 can cause same as 200 eastward at 260 km altitude. Furthermore, 16m 300 be effective due gravitational drift itself. Similarly, an upward inhibit bottomside appears polarity (upward or downward) base F-layer plays important plasma ionosphere.
