摘要: background surveys of skin disorders have previously provided information about the prevalence and incidence psoriasis in sub-saharan africa; however, geographic ethnic trends which may be drawn from these not been fully described previous studies, considered only a fraction available data. methods critical review clinic-based population-based studies is presented. adjusted, wherever possible, to factor out widely variable infectious conditions seen african clinics. distinguish between genetic environmental factors that responsible for variability incidence, attention climate, human leukocyte antigen (hla) frequencies, language groups across regions surveyed africa. results higher rates are consistently observed eastern africa than western africa, consistent with more limited data on africa. neither rainfall/humidity levels nor hla frequencies can simply account differences; ethnicities peoples parallel roughly trend incidence. countries, such as nigeria, mali, senegal, sierra leone, where lower reported (less 1.0% disorders), populated mainly by non-bantu-speaking groups. bantu-speaking constitute majority populations most countries southern varies widely. americans, whose largely ancestry shared modern africans, also relatively low comparison north american caucasians. conclusions correlations both within america suggest unidentified factors, differ govern differential psoriasis.
