摘要: The translocation of individuals from onepopulation to another is a common technique inwildlife conservation. However, the outcome oftranslocation programs not always properlyevaluated and relative contribution ofreleased resident populationoften remains unknown. We used mitochondrialDNA autosomal genetic markers evaluatethe success program ofEurasian otters (Lutra lutra) in Sweden. The regarded as successful becauseof subsequent population growths. Norwegianotters for restocking could begenetically differentiated Swedish otters. The releases took place at two sites. In anarea south first site, where 47 otterswere released, no theintroduced animals beobserved diversity was lowerthan before releases. At second site, the release seven led change ingenetic composition population. The results this study suggest that thegrowth otter after therestocking may be dependent on thereleases initially suspected. geneticeffects translocations appear berestricted areas immediate vicinityof
