摘要: The Omp85 family of proteins has been found in all Gram-negative bacteria and even several eukaryotic organisms. previously uncharacterized Escherichia coli member this is YaeT. results study, consistent with previous studies, show that the yaeT gene encodes for an essential cellular function. Direct examinations outer membrane fraction protein assembly revealed cells depleted YaeT are severely defective biogenesis (OMPs). Interestingly, assemblies two distinct groups OMPs follow either SurA- lipopolysaccharide-dependent (OmpF/C) or -independent (TolC) folding pathways were affected, suggesting may act as a general OMP factor. Depletion led to accumulation enriched periplasm, thus indicating facilitates insertion soluble intermediates from periplasm membrane. Our data suggest YaeT's role not mediated through lipid biogenesis, debated Neisseria, advocating conserved function homologues.
