摘要: Purpose – The present paper aims to explore the effects of state (trust in supervisor) and trait propensity) trust on employees' work engagement. Furthermore, it seeks investigate mediating role learning goal orientation relationship between engagement two forms performance: in‐role job performance innovative behaviour. Design/methodology/approach – Data for this cross sectional survey study were collected from 168 research scientists drawn six Irish science centres. Structural equation modelling was used test hypotheses. Findings – results suggest that both supervisor propensity positively significantly related Additionally, indicate partially mediated behaviour. Research limitations/implications – This limited by main factors: cross‐sectional design, use self‐reported questionnaire data. Limitations aside, provides evidence a climate can fuel engagement, which turn, is likely promote learning, innovation performance. Originality/value – extends developing literature ways. First, empirically establishes an association facets Second, highlights explaining linkage performance.
