摘要: Abstract Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) (PHBH) is a biomass-derived polymer synthesized by the fermentation inside bacteria, which has excellent flexibility and mechanical toughness. However, industrial applications of PHBH have been limited because its poor modulus elasticity tensile strength. For improving characteristics to eventually broaden applications, it was blended with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), rigid polymer. Moreover, blending also expected increase toughness PMMA. Nevertheless, PHBH/PMMA blends lack interfacial adhesion due low miscibility, thus restricting potential applications. This work focusses on enhancing compatibility blend developing compatibilizer. The synthesis PMMA-g-PHBH, graft copolymer, carried out using methyl methacrylate vinyl-terminated derived from propargyl-terminated PHBH. findings obtained scanning electron microscopy thermal analysis showed improvement in miscibility PMMA upon inclusion PMMA-g-PHBH structure. properties can be tuned controlling weight fraction PHBH/PMMA/PMMA-g-PHBH. study proves that acts as an effective compatibilizer for blends.
