摘要: The area of optimization stochastic models has been experiencing rapid development in the last several decades. Experts probability and statistics, theory, simulation, control have collaborated to create new models, analytical techniques, numerical methods, with an associated multitude applications. Andras Prekopa is one founders this area, but he also active contributor organizer. His remarkable scientific career, spanning over six decades, impossible summarize here. He published more than 15 books 350 papers. 1995 book Stochastic Programming a comprehensive treatise on became standard reference. An overview his contributions provided special article following introduction. Professor supervised 50 doctoral students currently directing program at Rutgers University. member Hungarian Academy Sciences, foreign National Engineering Mexico, fellow Econometric Society, International Statistical Institute, honorary president Janos Bolyai Mathematical Society Operations Research Society. founder sequence international conferences programming (held every three years since 1981 meeting Kőszeg, Hungary)
