Properties of solvent based polyurethane adhesives containing fumed silicas

摘要: Five hydrophilic and two hydrophobic fumed silicas of different surface area particle size were added to solvent based polyurethane adhesives. Silica addition produced a noticeable increase in the adhesive viscosity, imparted negative thixotropy, increased storage modulus (G') improved green adhesion chlorinated rubber/PU adhesive/chlorinated rubber joints. Those modifications more pronounced adhesives which contain silicas.
