摘要: Abstract Size effects are observed within discontinuous fibre composites, such that the material properties change with specimen volume. Representative volume elements (RVEs) commonly used to simulate random architectures for finite element analysis of composites. A series simplified 2D RVE models have been created and studied in this paper, order determine relationship between critical size length fraction. All subjected periodic boundary conditions, but average extracted from an inner region offset model by a distance equivalent two lengths. According Saint–Venant’s principle, removes uncertainty associated approximate conditions. statistical stopping criterion has adopted number realisations required achieve representative set elastic each architecture.
