摘要: The original concepts of absence status (AS) and complex partial (CPS) are critically reviewed. This review has been prompted by a modern concept nonconvulsive epilepticus (NCSE), portrayed as rather common condition occurring chiefly in the ill elderly with high morbidity mortality. new view is striking departure from AS CPS rare protracted epileptic events usually temporarily confused but otherwise satisfactorily healthy ambulatory patients. trend appears to have caused misinterpretation EEG findings: prominent generalized spike activity reality expression very severe encephalopathy than NCSE, most often an anoxic episode. role emphasized valuable interpretation depends on expert integration clinical data. A brief discussion twilight states further stresses difficult differential diagnosis.
